ATLANTA, GA | 2016 ULI HINES STUDENT COMPETITION
M.Arch 2016 2 weeks | Allison Buker, Vanessa Lira, Stefan Pugatchenko, Blake Reeves, Anna Snyder
The project site located between Downtown and Midtown, just east of the I-75/85 Connector. As the city of Atlanta attempts to draw more people to its urban settings, the Discovery District embraces the city lovers’ commonality: curiosity. Through urban interventions that embrace both left brain and right brain thinkers, Discovery District is more than just a singular physical development, it is a community of intellectuals built around shared ideas and passions. The primary goals of this development are to connect the area with intellectual hubs, attract a newly vibrant culture, and make the area more sustainable. Without a cohesive cultural identity, these blocks do not live up to their potential. By attracting Atlanta’s urban thinkers, Discovery District embraces a latent undertone in urban culture.
